503B Facility
An outsourcing facility that produces large-batch compounded drugs for hospitals under FDA oversight.
Definition
503B facilities are registered with the FDA and subject to cGMP standards. They can prepare office-stock compounded drugs without patient-specific prescriptions — unlike 503A pharmacies.
