Statistical synthesis of multiple RCTs; produces the strongest evidence in clinical medicine.
Definition
A meta-analysis pools data from multiple studies to estimate an overall effect size. When high-quality RCTs are combined, meta-analyses sit at the top of the evidence hierarchy.
