Intent to Treat

An analysis method that includes all randomized participants regardless of adherence.

Definition

Intent-to-treat (ITT) analysis preserves the benefits of randomization even when participants drop out or deviate from protocol. It is the primary analysis in most regulated trials and produces conservative effect estimates.
